Privacy Policy

WrittenByDad is made by DadSteps Limited, an Irish company. This policy explains what happens to your data when you use the app — the short answer is: it stays on your device, and we never see it.

What we collect

Nothing. WrittenByDad has no servers, no user accounts, and no sign-up of any kind. Every entry, photo, and setting you create is stored in a local database and a local photos folder on your own phone. We have no way to access, back up, or view any of it — there is no channel for it to reach us even if we wanted it to.

Photos

Photos you add are copied into the app's local storage on your device and nowhere else. They are never uploaded, never sent to any server, never analyzed, and never used to train anything. The camera roll and the app's photo folder are the only two places a photo of your child ever exists because of this app.

Purchases

Unlocking the app and building printed books are one-off purchases handled entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play — we never see your payment details. To confirm that a purchase went through and unlock what you paid for, the app checks your purchase receipt through RevenueCat, a purchase-verification service. RevenueCat sees only that a purchase happened; it never receives your entries, photos, or any content from the book you're writing. No accounts, no tracking

There's nothing to sign up for and nothing to log into. WrittenByDad contains no advertising SDKs, no third-party analytics, and no tracking of any kind. Nothing about how you use the app is measured, recorded, or sent anywhere.

Children's privacy

WrittenByDad is used by a parent or guardian to write about their own child — the app itself is not directed at children and is not used by them. Everything written about your child stays on your own device under your control; we never collect it, regardless of anyone's age.

Your data, your control

Every entry and photo can be exported at any time, free, as a plain zip file of photos and text — this is never restricted or paywalled. You can also delete everything from within the app at any time. Your entries and photos only ever exist on your own phone, so deleting them there is the whole story. The one thing that lives outside your phone — a purchase record, so you can restore what you paid for — can be deleted on request; see Data Deletion.

Changes to this policy

If anything about what the app does ever changes, we'll update this page and change the date at the top. We don't expect that to happen often — the app is built specifically to not need a privacy policy that changes.
